Thanks for the reply. I will try the DirectX when you have it ready.

Horizon pixellation. Pity - it does hinder suspension of disbelief. I suggested last time "losing the horizon in haze". Is that a possibility, as well as being a real experience?

Regards,
Bob.

I just tried to install BC5 on our multiple (elderly) laptops, all running XP. I did not succeed on any of them. Several showed featureless black narrow rectangles for letters, some showed letters OK, and ran the simulation, but the radar and console were not showing properly - eg no blue and no echoes; steering scale not displaying. I checked in detail with one: ATi Mobility Radion 9000, OpenGL installed. Set to 32-bit colour, 1024x768.  I can't find any minimum machine spec for running BC5. So far as I know, these laptops are fine for BC4.x
BC5 runs fine on my desktop W10, except for the annoying horizon pixellation which I thought you had cured early on in the alpha stage.
Any ideas? Thanks,
Regards,
Bob.

No, I'm not going via a proxy. Strange...
My son (who lives with us) has just downloaded it onto an apple, so I now have the file, but we can't explain why his worked and mine repeatedly failed... anyway, our problem, by the sound of it. Thanks for the quick reply.
Bob.

Bug reports / can't download bc5 - ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR
« on: August 30, 2017, 10:48:13 AM »
I've tried two browsers, and cant get https://www.bridgecommand.co.uk/file/bc50_setup.exe to load.

"ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR"
from chrome,

"An error occurred during a connection to www.bridgecommand.co.uk. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.  Error code: <a id = "errorCode" title-"SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG">SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG</a>"
from Firefox.

Help, please?

Development / Re: BC ver 5 alpha4 display
« on: August 25, 2015, 11:27:04 AM »
I've attached the info about my graphics below.

Ant-aliasing worked immediately in alpha 5 straight out-of-the-box. Great improvement on realism over a4. Thanks!

Now the new water representation... OK, it looks good, but the boat seems to be rolling a lot for quite a calm visible sea state. I'm doing "Leaving harbour", and weather is down a notch by default. I'd describe the Douglas sea scale state as 'smooth', and yet we seem to be rolling about +/-20degrees. Making the weather worse doesn't seem to make the surface do all that much. Compare this with 4.7, where we would be having waves higher than the boat by that stage. I've been in an Atlantic hurricane (1965), so do know what really big waves look like  :o   Any thoughts on this?

Regards,
Bob.

Development / BC ver 5 alpha4 display
« on: August 22, 2015, 03:16:56 PM »
Hi!

I've just run the new alpha 4 version and wondered if you plan any extra display features to come with the beta or release versions, or if this is near complete at this alpha stage.

I've been hoping for an anti-alias of the horizon through the alpha stages, but the pixellation seems much more noticeable in ver 5 than in 4.7. It looks really weird when the boat is rolling.  It makes the "suspension of disbelief" much more difficult, and this would be a pity. I've no idea how complex the implementation of this is, but I would favour it over quite a lot else. If it is too hard, what about partially 'losing' the horizon in "haze"? Configurable?

Really looking forward to the betas! Well done!

Regards,
Bob.
