Feature requests & suggestions / Taking bearings
« on: October 17, 2020, 11:23:10 AM »
We would find it useful in training to be able to switch on a grid over the field of view from inside or outside the wheelhouse, giving bearings to objects in view (approaching vessels, aids-to-navigation, etc) to the nearest degree. It would be nice to simulate a hand compass, or some such, but it would be a lot easier to just toggle a scale on/off with a keypress. It would be good to have both True and Magnetic available, or set in one of the ini files. What about variation? Set in the appropriate World ini?
Thanks!
Bob.

I just tried to install BC5 on our multiple (elderly) laptops, all running XP. I did not succeed on any of them. Several showed featureless black narrow rectangles for letters, some showed letters OK, and ran the simulation, but the radar and console were not showing properly - eg no blue and no echoes; steering scale not displaying. I checked in detail with one: ATi Mobility Radion 9000, OpenGL installed. Set to 32-bit colour, 1024x768.  I can't find any minimum machine spec for running BC5. So far as I know, these laptops are fine for BC4.x
BC5 runs fine on my desktop W10, except for the annoying horizon pixellation which I thought you had cured early on in the alpha stage.
Any ideas? Thanks,
Regards,
Bob.

« on: August 30, 2017, 10:48:13 AM »
I've tried two browsers, and cant get https://www.bridgecommand.co.uk/file/bc50_setup.exe to load.

"ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR"
from chrome,

"An error occurred during a connection to www.bridgecommand.co.uk. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.  Error code: <a id = "errorCode" title-"SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG">SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG</a>"
from Firefox.

Help, please?

Development / BC ver 5 alpha4 display
« on: August 22, 2015, 03:16:56 PM »
Hi!

I've just run the new alpha 4 version and wondered if you plan any extra display features to come with the beta or release versions, or if this is near complete at this alpha stage.

I've been hoping for an anti-alias of the horizon through the alpha stages, but the pixellation seems much more noticeable in ver 5 than in 4.7. It looks really weird when the boat is rolling.  It makes the "suspension of disbelief" much more difficult, and this would be a pity. I've no idea how complex the implementation of this is, but I would favour it over quite a lot else. If it is too hard, what about partially 'losing' the horizon in "haze"? Configurable?

Really looking forward to the betas! Well done!

Regards,
Bob.
